Disposal of animal waste remains daunting task

Mayor chairs meeting to set things rolling for quick and safe lifting of offal

At least 100 collection points will be set up to collect the offal of sacrificial animals which will be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner in 80 trenches dug at the waste disposal site, said Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday.

The mayor chaired a meeting at the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board office to discuss the arrangements for Eidul Adha. The meeting was attended by MD Solid Waste Imtiaz Ali Shah, all town chairmen, and other relevant officers.

Mayor Wahab emphasized the importance of coordination and assured that the collection of animal waste will be timely. A total of eight trenches and 100 collection points will be established for the disposal of animal waste.

The mayor urged all town chairmen to play an active role in providing public services in their respective areas to prevent any public complaints.

He also directed the application of lime and spraying at collection points and other sites. MD Solid Waste Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah provided a detailed briefing on the Eidul Azha arrangements and monitoring process, outlining the steps for the safe disposal of animal waste.

He informed that excavation work at landfill sites is in final stag. Waste collected from various areas will be transported to these collection points and then to the landfill site trenches.
