PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has imposed a complete ban on the collection of animal hides without prior permission across the province.

Obtaining a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from district administrations has been made mandatory for collecting the hides. Instructions have been issued to all districts in that regard.

Also, on Eidul Azha, vacations of Deputy Commissioners have been cancelled and Assistant Commissioners, TMEs and Zonal Managers have been instructed to supervise cleaning operations on the occasion.

It has also been decided to include local government representatives in the cleaning operation in order to manage it more efficiently.

The provincial government has also issued instructions to improve the cleanliness situation during the Eid holidays.

The Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been instructed to set up special control rooms at their offices in order to eliminate illegal cattle markets and maintain the flow of traffic near animal sale points. Orders have also been issued for the presence of traffic police and police mobiles for the protection of animal traders.

In order to control vegetable prices on the occasion of Eidul Azha, Assistant Commissioners have been ordered to be present at markets early in the morning and have rates of vegetables fixed under their personal supervision.

It has also been decided to take action against hoarders of onions and tomatoes.

Additionally, teams of officials will be present at bus terminals and entry and exit points from tomorrow onwards to prevent overcharging of passengers. Route permits of overcharging transporters would be cancelled and the drivers of such buses arrested on the spot and put behind bars.

It has also been instructed that a massive public awareness campaign be launched for the disposal of garbage only at designated points. The government has also deployed police and rescue personnel at tourist spots, banned overloading of boats, and formed special teams to ensure the fitness of rides and boats at amusement parks in order to prevent tragic boat accidents at nullahs, lakes and rivers during the Eid holidays.
