The Punjab government has allocated a monthly grant exceeding Rs3.65 billion to 229 local government and municipal bodies, including Punjab Finance Commission (PFC) and UIP shares.
In a notification from the Punjab Finance Department, the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore has received Rs172.2 million as part of the PFC award. Furthermore, a total of Rs1.02 billion has been disbursed to 35 district councils across Punjab as their PFC share.
Additionally, Rs1.39 billion has been released to 182 municipal committees.
Under the Provincial Finance Commission Award, 11 municipal corporations have been allocated Rs379.41 million.
Notable disbursements include Rs14.1 million for Bahawalpur Municipal Corporation, Rs28.2 million for DG Khan, Rs76.25 million for Faisalabad, Rs27.635 million for Gujrat, Rs25.9 million for Gujranwala, Rs13.2 million for Murree, Rs49.8 million for Multan, Rs26.8 million for Rawalpindi, Rs34.6 million for Sahiwal, Rs36.4 million for Sargodha, and Rs46.1 million for Sialkot Municipal Corporation.
Furthermore, a total of Rs699.5 million has been allocated to municipal institutions as UIP tax share under the Provincial Finance Commission Award for the period from March to April 2024.
Notable allocations include Rs31.8 million for Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation, Rs10.5 million for Sargodha Municipal Corporation, Rs22.3 million for Gujranwala, Rs22.4 million for Gujrat, Rs21.7 million for Multan, Rs12.8 million for Sahiwal, Rs64.1 million for Faisalabad, Rs50 million for DG Khan, Rs57 million for Bahawalpur Municipal Corporation, and Rs121 million for the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore.
Additionally, municipal institutions in Sheikhupura district have received a total of Rs142 million, Nankana Sahib Rs27 million, Kasur Rs135 million, Okara district Rs108 million, and Rahim Yar Khan district Rs200 million as their UIP tax share.
