Two labourers were killed when explosive material detonated in a scrap yard in Sananawan area of Kot Addu on Tuesday. The Crime Scene Unit has collected evidence, and police have registered a case against the scrap yard owner under serious charges.
A search operation has been initiated to arrest the main accused.
According to details, Mazhar Hussain Araien had set up a scrap shop on Dera Road within the limits of Sananawan police station, where two laborers were working. Suddenly, a loud explosion occurred, frightening nearby residents.
As a result of the explosion, Muhammad Arshad Rajput, a resident of Kot Addu, died on the spot, while rescue teams transported the second labourer, Muhammad Latif, a resident of Bakhi Ada, to the DHQ Hospital Sananawan in critical condition. Unfortunately, he also succumbed to his injuries.
The Crime Scene Unit, PFSA team, Dera Ghazi Khan Bomb Disposal Squad, and other relevant law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene for rescue operations and legal proceedings.
The police have registered a case under section 302 and the Explosive Act 1908, number 355/24, on suspicion of keeping explosive material in the scrap shop. DPO Syed Hasnain Hyder and SDPO Tahir Aijaz informed media representatives that the bomb disposal squad and other law enforcement agencies are investigating the nature of the blast.
The post-mortem of the deceased was being carried out and initial investigations have not found any evidence of terrorism. Further investigations were underway, with forensic teams also analysing evidence at the scene.
