Punjab Arts Council hosts poetry recital event

Special guest Director of Arts Council says poetry recitation is a hallmark of the Potohar region

A poetry recital event was organised at the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) in Rawalpindi.

The poets who showcased their talents included Raja Nazak Mahmood, Raja Tasawwur Mahmood, Chaudhry Zulfiqar, Tariq Mubeen, Muhammad Rehan Tahir, Muhammad Zaheer, Muhammad Rasheed, Raja Shoaib Khalid, Aqeel Mahmood and Hafiz Arsalan.

The special guest of the event was Director of the Arts Council, Sajjad Hussain, stated while speaking at the event that poetry recitation is a hallmark of the Potohar region. “The main purpose of such events is to promote poetry and literature. These gatherings enhance literary taste and bring people closer to literature,” he said. “Poetry recitation helps preserve language and culture. The themes of Potohari poetry recitation are very diverse. The themes include love, natural landscapes, rural life, social issues and epic tales.”

Assistant Director Muhammad Suleman mentioned that the platform of the Arts Council was always available for the promotion of art, culture and literature. “Potohari poetry recitation is an enduring tradition that is an important part of the cultural and literary life of the people of Potohar. This tradition not only keeps their language and literature alive but also serves as a means to connect the new generation with their culture,” he said.

At the end of the event, Director Sajjad Hussain congratulated the entire team for presenting a beautiful programme.
