Taylor Zakhar Perez worried about Joey King's weight loss

Taylor expressed concern over Joey's weight loss when he visited her on the set of Hulu's "We Were the Lucky Ones."

During a Variety's Actors On Actors interview, Taylor Zakhar Perez revealed his concern over former co-star Joey King's dramatic weight loss during the filming of Hulu's miniseries "We Were the Lucky Ones."

Perez, who starred alongside King in Netflix's "The Kissing Booth 2," visited her on the wintery set of the Holocaust drama and was taken aback by her appearance. "I remember it was winter, January, just freezing, and thinking of you there was tough," Perez shared. "But also, the subject matter that you were in. When I showed up, I was like, 'Jo, are you OK? Because you've lost a lot of weight.'"

King explained that the weight loss was intentional for her role as Halina, a Jewish woman posing as an Aryan woman during World War II. She emphasised the limited access to food and the harsh realities her character faced.

King acknowledged the responsibility of portraying a Holocaust survivor, stating, "We were trying to be as smart and safe about it as possible, but we were trying to be mindful that the responsibility we have to this story is so immense."

The actress also stressed the importance of finding discomfort where necessary to authentically depict the characters' experiences, highlighting the commitment and dedication she brought to the role.
