Actor Mark Ruffalo has expressed his relief at the return of four Israeli hostages but also mourned the loss of Palestinian lives during the process.

Ruffalo, known for his outspoken activism, criticized the ongoing violence and called for a ceasefire, emphasising the devastating human cost of the conflict.

"It’s so good to see the hostages returned," Ruffalo tweeted. "A ceasefire would have gotten many more hostages back and no civilians and children killed. This siege is cruel and senseless. Grinding innocent human beings and their culture into blood-soaked rubble and dust, to be buried and forgotten. 4 for 274 including kids. It’s a sinful equation that keeps repeating. #Artists4Ceasefire."

Ruffalo has been a prominent celebrity advocate for a permanent ceasefire since the war began.

He has previously used his platform to highlight the humanitarian crisis and call for an end to the violence in the region.

His latest comments underscore the ongoing tragedy and the urgent need for a peaceful resolution.
