NEW YORK:

Following Pakistan's loss to India in the T20 World Cup on Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has indicated that the national team will undergo major changes.

Last night, India triumphed over Pakistan by six runs in the T20 World Cup showdown. Rishabh Pant scored 42 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets. Pakistan's 113 runs fell short of India's 119, significantly diminishing their chances of qualifying for the Super Eight stage.

"It seemed initially that a minor surgery would suffice, but following the extremely poor performance against India, it is clear that a major surgery is necessary," Naqvi remarked while speaking to the journalists after the match.

Naqvi highlighted the current low point in Pakistani cricket. "Our performance is at its lowest. Improving the team's performance is our biggest challenge," he noted.

He hinted that the nation will soon witness substantial changes within the team. "We need to prepare the team for the Champions Trophy, and it is time to give new talent sitting on the sidelines a chance," Naqvi stated.

The PCB chairman further emphasised the goal of making the Pakistani cricket team one of the best in the world. "I am well aware of what is happening within the team and the reasons behind the defeat."

Naqvi concluded by acknowledging the nation's expectations. "The nation does not expect such disappointing performances from the cricket team. We must deliver better results," he added.
