Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has formed a task force comprising experts for reforms in the health sector in the province.
The ten-member task force will be headed by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur himself. The task force will work as an advisory body on all reforms related to the health sector in the province.
Additionally, the task force functions include assessing the current status of health facilities and upgrading of equipment and healthcare by means of funds management.
The task force will look into various issues deeply besides assessing the required equipment and modernizing the entire health system through introduction of new technology.
According to the notification issued in this regard, Dr. Nizamuddin MD Diplomat American Board/Medicine Consultant, Hospital Medicine, Dr. Jamal Fazal Rabi, MD Diplomat American Board Cardio-Theoretic Vascular, Dr. Muhammad Waqar Khattak MD American Diplomat Board Nephrologist, Dr. Ashfaqullah MD Diplomat American Board Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Aftab Alam Khan Psychiatrist MRCP Psyche, FRCP Psyche, Dr. Fateh Khan Hasan Zai Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Muaz Bin Badshah MD Diplomat American Board Interventional Gastroenterologist, Dr. Shariful Zaman Khan, MD Diplomat, American Board Medicine Consultant/Hospital Medicine, Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan, Dermatologist, FRCPH, MBBS, FRCP Glasgow are included in the Task Force.
Official sources said that neither the provincial health minister nor any representatives from the health sector reforms unit of the health department have been included in the proposed task force. Despite the spread of infectious diseases on a daily basis in the province, stakeholders such as public health and hospital management specialists, health economists, statistical analysts, health insurance experts, and FCPs have not been included in the task force too.
Most of the American Diplomatic Board degree holders have been made part of the task force. Likewise, two doctors from Shaukat Khanum Hospital have also been included in the task force.
