Former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is preparing to embark on a deeply spiritual journey to Makkah, where she will perform Hajj. The celebrated athlete shared this significant life update with her followers via Instagram.
In her heartfelt post, Sania expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to undertake this sacred pilgrimage. "Dear friends and loved ones, I have been blessed with the incredible opportunity to embark on the sacred journey of Hajj," she wrote.
The tennis star highlighted the importance of this pilgrimage as a moment for seeking redemption and spiritual renewal. She humbly asked for forgiveness from her followers, saying, "As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings. My heart is filled with gratitude for this chance to seek redemption and spiritual renewal. I pray that Allah accepts my prayers and guides me on this blessed path."
Reflecting on her fortune and the spiritual significance of the journey, she added, "I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey for a lifetime. I hope to come back as a better human being with a humble heart and stronger imaan."
This upcoming pilgrimage marks Sania's second spiritual trip to Saudi Arabia. Last year, following her retirement from professional tennis, she traveled to Makkah to perform Umrah with her close ones.
Earlier, the Indian athlete made news after her appearance on the popular OTT series The Great Indian Kapil Show, sharing the stage with fellow sports legends boxer Mary Kom, badminton player Saina Nehwal, and sharpshooter Sift Kaur. The episode was filled with laughter and engaging conversations, particularly when host Kapil Sharma brought up an interesting tidbit about Sania's potential biopic.
Kapil recalled an old interview where Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his interest in playing Sania's love interest in a film about her life. This revelation took Sania by surprise. "But before that, I need to have a love interest," she quipped, sparking laughter among the audience.
The conversation then turned to Sania's preferences for her biopic co-stars. She excitedly revealed her partiality towards Akshay Kumar, saying, "If Shah Rukh ji does the film, I might play myself. And I’ll definitely do it if Akshay Kumar is in it."
