A number plate of police motorbike was recovered from an armed suspect killed in a shootout with police in DHA Phase II extension.

The dead suspect, 25-year-old Osama Diyar Khan, was resident of Hazara Colony, Kalapul.

According to Defence police station SHO Inspector Ghulam Nabi Afridi, a citizen named Faraz was riding a motorcycle with his son after drawing Ra300,000 from a bank when two robbers on a motorcycle tried to snatch the money from him near his residential building.

Faraz resisted but was thrown to the ground by the suspects, who grabbed the loot and fled.

Incidentally, a police patrol team, Constable Rai Chand and Constable Yaseen, saw the crime and chased the suspects. The robbers opened fire on the cops on 15th Commercial Street of DHA Phase II Extension, inviting retaliation from the police. During the shootout the suspect riding pillion was killed, while the other escaped with the stolen money.

According to SHO Inspector Ghulam Nabi Afridi, the deceased suspect, Osama, had previously been arrested in November 2022 by the Tipu Sultan Police.

The footage of the incident shows the robbers attacking the citizen in the middle of the road, while others watch from their vehicles. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

Security guard shoots rag picker

A security guard from a private company shot and injured a teenage garbage collector in North Karachi on Friday. According to the district Central Police spokesperson, the guard, identified as Ramzan, shot 17-year-old Samad in the stomach after an argument. The injured boy was immediately taken to the hospital.The incident occurred within the Sir Syed police station's jurisdiction. The guard fled the scene, and police have launched a search to apprehend him.
