The upcoming Hunger Games prequel, "Sunrise on the Reaping," is set to explore the backstory of Haymitch Abernathy, the iconic mentor from the original series. As the film adaptation gears up for a 2026 release, speculation is rife about which young actor could convincingly portray a less cynical and battle-hardened Haymitch.

Several rising stars have been suggested, including:

Nicholas Galitzine: Known for his versatility in "The Idea of You" and "Red, White & Royal Blue," Galitzine could bring a nuanced depth to the role.

Austin Butler: Fresh off his Oscar-nominated performance in "Elvis," Butler has proven his ability to embody complex characters.

Jacob Elordi: With his recent roles in "Euphoria" and "Priscilla," Elordi has shown his range and could capture Haymitch's charisma.

Mike Faist: Having demonstrated his acting chops in "West Side Story," Faist could deliver a powerful performance as a younger Haymitch.

Josh O'Connor: Known for his portrayal of Prince Charles in "The Crown," O'Connor's talent and intensity could translate well to the Hunger Games universe.

Callum Turner: The star of "Masters of the Air" could bring a fresh face and unique energy to the role.

Noah LaLonde: With his recognizable look from "My Life With the Walter Boys," LaLonde could easily fit the part of a young Haymitch.

Danny Griffin: Known for his roles in "Fate: The Winx Saga" and "Get Even," Griffin could convincingly play a younger version of Harrelson's character.

The casting of Haymitch is crucial for the success of the prequel, as his character is a fan favourite and a key figure in the Hunger Games lore. With so many talented young actors in the running, the filmmakers have a tough decision ahead of them.
