A new docuseries, An Update on Our Family, has resurfaced past videos of Myka Stauffer confidently discussing her adoption process and readiness to parent a child with special needs. This comes after the viral scandal in 2020 when the Stauffer family rehomed their adopted son Huxley, who was later diagnosed with autism.

The docuseries, inspired by a 2020 New York Magazine feature, delves into the family vlogging industry and the Stauffers' fall from grace. It includes clips from Myka's deleted YouTube videos where she claimed to be "well educated" on various conditions and open to adopting a child with special needs.

In one video, Myka stated that she and her husband were "comfortable with 99 of the 100 conditions" and felt prepared to handle almost any situation. She even shared Huxley's photo online before the adoption was finalised, revealing his disability and expressing her belief that he was "not returnable."

Despite her initial confidence, the Stauffers sought adoption dissolution two years later, claiming they were unaware of the extent of Huxley's disabilities. This decision sparked widespread backlash, ultimately leading the family to go offline.

While the Stauffers and Huxley's new family haven't commented on the docuseries, it raises questions about the authenticity of Myka's past claims and the ethics of family vlogging. The series serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of sharing personal lives online and the importance of responsible adoption practices.

Since the scandal, Myka's personal YouTube channel and the family channel have been deleted. James Stauffer's channel remains active but focuses solely on car-related content. The docuseries offers a glimpse into the complex issues surrounding adoption, family vlogging, and the responsibilities that come with sharing one's life with the public.
