During today’s proceedings, the apex court continued to criticise Sindh Police and pointed out inherent weaknesses in its investigation reports.
Awami Tehrik leader Rasool Bux Palejo also appeared before the bench today and gave his statement. He alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was an “al Qaeda style international terrorist outfit” and reminded the court of a Canadian Federal Court verdict against the party in 2007.
The court had upheld a decision of the immigration board that had said there were “reasonable grounds” to believe the MQM had been involved in “acts of terrorism.”
Director General Rangers (DG) Sindh Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry also appeared before the court and said that miscreants in Karachi were carrying out their activities under the flags of political parties.
The MQM has also filed a request to be a party in the case.
The chief justice, on Tuesday, had said that some quarters were unhappy with the suo motu notice.
“If even a single person is killed, the government is responsible. Elected representatives are sitting in the assemblies. The Senate is working. Why, then, is there so much helplessness? It is all a political gimmick,” he had said.

@khan: What are you applauding Awami Tehreek for???? Do you know what Awami Tehreek is or they are deserving of your kudos because they have spewed hatred towards MQM???? If you are cheering for them because of their noteworthy social programs and work for villages and specially for rural women then I can see it and agree with you. But everytime Mr. Palejo opens his mouth poison comes out for certain ethnicities and groups and that negates his good work in other areas. If we are to build a democratic, strong, and vibrant society we have to implement tolerance and learn to work with each other. Merely mouthing hate-filled slogans and asking to declare certain groups illegal has no merit and will not work. These groups will re-group under a different name, that's all. So be practical and give some solutions to make people's life easy and safe in this big metropolis.
Thats the whole catch in the story. Mirza will never appear before the court. He has already said in his interviews that he did not trust the Courts. Reality is that he has nothing substantiable against MQM & Malik. He is playing the same game like Imran Khan, when he claimed that he has evidences against MQM & its leadership but these were never presented before the British courts as promised by him. Just wait for tomorrow when the MQM lawyers will present their case. So far only one sided opinion of anti-MQM political parties have been heared in the court.
Bad governance is a two-way traffic.Karachi was once a vibrant city that fell into wrong Mafiosi hands mostly under a vile dictatorship. The end result is corrupt leadership, poor governance, terrorism, and worst deprivation of poor and vulnerable of all kinds.
Responsibility lies on Mirza,MQM,Rehman Malik,PPP and ANP--,people-in-uniform and out-of-uniform, and on half-baked graduates with fake degrees holding high offices with personal ambitions greater than national exchequer. It is the worst scenario for self-immolation and for eventual extermination not by enemy hands but through wishful suicidal act.
@Adil: Brother, Zulfiqar Mirza is only playing a dirty politics game. I do not allow any political party to represent me. Neither I choose representatives. That is useless.
I reckon Tanzeel is aware of this dirty politics. Mafia also belongs this lion Mirza sahib.
@Ali. Mir: What would he substantiate? His occupied lands under the flag of Mafia? Why are we fooling ourselves.Please. Aah.
He would never appear before court as he himself will have to reply to so many things. He would rather go his route of creating more violence and disturbance in the city.
its like watching a circus from afar.....between the CJ , rehman malik, Zuliqar mirza and MQM....we will be perpetually volleyed around.....dnt know why Mr. Mirza has suddenly appeared wearing a halo on his head infront of press....I hope he understands the risk hez taken with himself in the AFTER LIFE.....its just not on to use QURAN for such filth....It should be punishable
We all ready knew these thing then do something why this japanese word sou motu for...............
@Adil: I don't care whether you are Muhajir or Sindhi, neither I am interested to talk about ethnicity since my city is burning and I am more interested to witness peace Karachi. I would love to see Mirza in court with his rhetorical.
Zulfiqar Mirza must not lose on the momentum and must appear volantarily before the court as he is fast appearing to be a person Pakistanis would like to stand with, in case he sees through his commitment.
@Ali. Mir: Absolutely! Karachi has to be cleared of the mess...even if it is in the form of a political party....
If supreame court can take Sou Moto Notice on Karachi they can summon Mr Z Mirza no big deal
Long Live Awami Tehrik
Another slap to Mirza -- this time by CJ.
All this drama puts mohajirs with no choice but to back MQM - Even staunch supporters of Imran Khan who are urdu speaking have no choice.
REHAMN MALIK is responsible for karachi's Mess
