Hania Aamir dethrones Ayeza Khan to become Pakistan’s most followed celeb on Instagram

The fresh-faced star saw a surge in numbers last month

 

As actor Hania Aamir continues to snap up fans on Instagram, the Mere Humsafar star toppled fellow actor Ayeza Khan to become the most followed Pakistani celebrity on the platform, registering 14.1 million followers. Ayeza, with 14 million followers, is behind by a whisker. 

For the past few months, the two icons have been going neck and neck in the numbers game on Instagram, albeit with Ayeza always in the lead until now. As of April, Hania was coming in comfortably second, with 13.1 million followers to her name. However, in May, the Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha star and staunch mental health champion saw a steep uptake in fans, registering nearly 4 million new followers in just one month. 

With nearly identical followings, both showbiz stars hold a special place in the hearts of their fans. However, if the numbers are taken into account, Hania engages with her fans on a more regular basis, having posted 990 posts compared to Ayeza’s 610. 

Older than Hania by six years, Ayeza made her debut in the television industry in 2009 with Tum Jo Miley in 2009. Over the years, Ayeza went on to garner critical acclaim after her breakthrough role in Pyarey Afzal (2013), going on to establish herself as one of the leading actors in the industry over the past ten years with a string of television roles. Ayeza won a local award for her role in Mere Paas Tum Ho. The star’s most recent appearance was in Jaan e Jahaan as the female lead, resulting in high praise from fans in the wake of the show’s finale episode. 

Hania, by contrast, began her acting career in the Hareem Farooq-led comedy film Janaan, followed by her television debut a year later with Titli. With her beaming photos sprinkled throughout her Instagram, Hania appears well-suited to the comedy genre, having also appeared in Na Maloom Afraad 2 (2017). Hania is next scheduled to appear in Pakistan’s first highly anticipated star-studded Netflix series Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo.
