In the second Group A match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 held in New York, India clinched a commanding victory over Ireland, triumphing by eight wickets. Jusprit Bumrah received the Player of the Match award for his exceptional spell of 2/6.

Achieving the most wins by an Indian captain surpassing MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 52 runs off just 37 balls to kick off the chase. Rishabh Pant provided crucial support by remaining unbeaten with 36 runs off 26 balls as the men in blue comfortably chased down Ireland’s target of 97 runs with 7.4 overs to spare.

Indian bowlers put on a stellar display, destroying Ireland's batting lineup. Despite efforts from standout batsman Gareth Delany, who scored a crucial 26 runs, Ireland struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack, failing to establish significant partnerships.

Notably, Hardik Pandya led the bowling charge with figures of 3/27 while Arshdeep Singh contributed with 2/35. Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with one wicket each, further solidifying India's dominance on the field.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Captain Rohit Sharma highlighted the advantage gained from playing a warm-up game on the same pitch, which provided valuable insights into its behavior, ultimately aiding their strategic approach.
