Aaliyah and Enrique Iglesias were said to be close friends, according to Jennifer Love Hewitt, who co-starred in Iglesias' "Hero" music video.

A fan page for the singer Aaliyah posted a video on social media last Friday. In the video, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt reveals a surprising detail about the friendship between Aaliyah and ‘Bailando’ singer Enrique Iglesias.

A fan page for Aaliyah shared a video on X which shows, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt excitedly exclaims,“Oh, Enrique! Oh, this is such a good mashup, guys!”

The clip featured Jennifer Love Hewitt on a program called "Entertainment Tonight Retrospective," reacting to footage of herself playing Enrique Iglesias' love interest in his music video for "Hero" (2001).

The music video for the emotional ballad features a scene where Enrique Iglesias breaks down in tears, comforted by Jennifer Love Hewitt.

“The craziest thing about that video shoot that I don’t know if people know, is that Enrique and Aaliyah were close friends,” she explains.

“And the night that we filmed that video, was the night that she passed.”

“And so Enrique had to film that, like all of his crying stuff in the video was filmed and he was really crying because she had passed,” Hewitt told the interviewers.

Jennifer Love Hewitt, who previously starred on "The Client List," revealed that after filming the music video, the crew and everyone “all did a big prayer for her at the end of the video.”

Hewitt remembers Enrique dedicating the video to Aaliyah, saying that the whole experience was “really intense.”

Aaliyah died on Aug. 25, 2001, when she was only 22 years old.

Aaliyah and seven others were flying back to Miami from filming a music video for her song ‘Rock the Boat’ in the Bahamas when her plane, a small twin-engine aircraft, tragically crashed shortly after takeoff.

Aaliyah's hit song "Try Again" was nominated for a Grammy Award just before her untimely passing.
