Film legend Sylvester Stallone is set to auction off a portion of his impressive $7.5 million watch collection at Sotheby’s, starting June 5.
Among the highlights is Stallone’s Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, a revered piece in the watch community and often dubbed the "holy grail" of wristwatches.
This intricate timepiece could command between $2.5 and $5 million at the auction.
Geoff Hess, Sotheby’s Head of Watches for the Americas, lauded the watch as "one of the most complicated wristwatches in the world," a sentiment echoed in a NewsNation report by Paula Froelich.
The Patek Philippe in question boasts an elegant white gold double face and features 20 complications, making it a standout in any collection.
In addition to the Grandmaster Chime, Stallone’s auction will feature other notable pieces such as a Patek Philippe Nautilus and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon, with estimated fetch prices of up to $100,000 and $200,000 respectively.
A Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950, famously worn by Stallone in “The Expendables 2,” is also on the block, potentially drawing up to $60,000.
“I enjoy the collecting process like so many others in this passionate community, who don’t just see watches as an accessory, but admire them for their history, craftsmanship, artistry – but most importantly – how they make them feel,” Stallone expressed.
He added that while it is bittersweet to part with these pieces, the joy they brought him and the reminder that “hard work pays off” was invaluable.
As Stallone and his wife Jennifer Flavin settle into their new life in Palm Beach, Florida, after leaving Los Angeles, this auction marks a significant moment for collectors and fans alike.
Geoff Hess remarked, “While many recognize Stallone as the legendary actor behind characters like Rocky Balboa and John Rambo, watch enthusiasts know the legendary actor to be a noteworthy, influential and truly passionate collector.”
