Gang supplying drugs to varsities busted
The CIA Lyallpur Town police have arrested five suspects, including a woman, involved in supplying drugs to major universities, colleges, and hostels in Faisalabad.
The operation led to the recovery of 15 kilograms of heroin, one kilogram of ice, and weapons. Cases have been registered against the suspects, who are now in custody.
According to police sources, one suspect was arrested near the district Kachhari, which led to the subsequent arrest of the other suspects through a trail traced from his belongings.
City Police Officer (CPO) Kamran Adil, who had visited the Government University four days prior and received complaints about drug supply, tasked DSP Malik Tariq Singha, who also holds the additional charge of SP CIA, and in-charge CIA Lyallpur Town Hassan Siddique Cheema with the investigation.
In-charge CIA Lyallpur Town Hassan Siddique Cheema, along with ASI Shahbaz Gill, Constable Siddique, and Constable Tariq, conducted raids at various locations.
They arrested drug dealer Nadeem Abbas outside the district Kachhari. Following Abbas's arrest, they apprehended rickshaw driver Bilal, Shakila Bibi, Ashfaq, Shahzad and Asim Raza, who were involved in the supply chain.
The police confiscated a total of 15 kilograms of hashish, one kilogram of ice, and several weapons. According to Hassan Siddique Cheema, the arrested individuals supplied drugs to multiple educational institutions, including a university near Dhobi Ghat, a university on Jaranwala Road, a private college, and hostels located in Koh-e-Noor.
The operation revealed that the leader of the gang, Haji, coordinated the drug supplies from Peshawar, distributing them to Faisalabad for sale in educational institutions.
