Sean Kingston agrees to extradition to Florida over fraud allegations

Sean Kingston, the Jamaican-born rapper known for hits like "Beautiful Girls" and "Fire Burning," has agreed to be extradited to Florida to face charges of fraud and theft exceeding $1 million. He signed paperwork in a California court waiving his right to challenge the extradition, according to the Associated Press news agency.  

Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, and his mother, Janice Turner, are accused by the Broward County Sheriff's Office of engaging in a scheme to defraud several businesses. The alleged scheme involved obtaining jewellery, money, a luxury car, and other valuables through false representations.

Florida police raided Kingston's Fort Lauderdale home and arrested his mother on May 23, the same day Kingston was apprehended in Fort Irwin, California. It remains unclear when Kingston will be returned to Florida.

In addition to the criminal charges, Kingston faces a separate lawsuit from a company alleging he failed to pay for a large TV and sound system. The company claims Kingston induced them to install the products with minimal down payment by making false promises, including creating promotional videos with Justin Bieber.

Kingston's representatives have been contacted for comment, but prior to his arrest, the singer assured fans on Instagram that he and his mother were "good" and that his lawyers were handling the situation. A lawyer representing the pair has expressed confidence in a successful resolution in court.
