Jeremy Renner, renowned for his role as William Brandt in the 'Mission: Impossible' series, recently hinted at a potential return to the franchise.

In an interview with Collider’s Christina Radish, while discussing the third season of 'Mayor of Kingstown,' Renner reflected on his past involvement with the iconic action series and his reasons for stepping away.

"Yeah. I had to leave that. I was supposed to do more with them. I love those guys. I love Tom [Cruise] so much. We had so much fun, and I love that character a lot. It requires a lot of time away. It’s all in London. I had to go be a dad. It just wasn't gonna work out then," Renner shared about his departure from the series.

The demands of the filming schedule in London conflicted with his responsibilities as a father, leading to his absence from the recent installments.

However, with his daughter growing older, Renner is open to the idea of returning to the franchise. He expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of donning Brandt's persona once again.

"Maybe now that my daughter is older that could happen. I'd always jump into a 'Mission: Impossible' anytime and back into Brandt. It’s great," Renner remarked.

Renner's character, known for his serious combat skills and sharp wit, was a fan favorite and seen as a potential successor to Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt.

His return could invigorate the series by reintroducing a beloved character and refreshing the team dynamics, especially considering the aging of other longstanding characters like Ving Rhames' Luther Stickell and the exit of Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust.

As 'Mission: Impossible' continues to evolve with new sequels, the prospect of Renner's return not only excites fans but also promises to deepen the franchise's narrative richness.

While the timing and specifics remain uncertain, the door appears open for Renner to bring William Brandt back to the screen.
