Nicole Brown Simpson's sisters, Denise, Dominique, and Tanya Brown, recently opened up to ABC News about their complex emotions surrounding O.J. Simpson's death. While Denise admitted feeling a sense of relief, they also expressed sadness for their niece and nephew, Sydney and Justin, who are Simpson and Nicole's children.

"It's very complicated," Dominique shared with ABC News. "But I have a relationship with the kids that means everything to me, and I was ... very, very sad for them."

Simpson, the former NFL star acquitted of murdering Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman in a highly publicized 1994 trial, passed away at 76 on April 10 after battling cancer. The news of his death brought back painful memories for the Brown family, as they continue to grieve the loss of their sister three decades later.

Denise expressed regret for her past responses to Nicole's confidences about a violent incident with Simpson, acknowledging that she didn't fully understand the complexities of domestic abuse at the time.

The Brown sisters have since dedicated themselves to raising awareness about domestic violence and advocating for stronger legislation to protect victims. They hope their story can help others recognize the signs of abuse and seek help.

The sisters' interview with ABC News comes ahead of a new Lifetime documentary, "The Life & Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson," which will air on June 1 and 2. The documentary promises to shed new light on Nicole's life and the tragic circumstances surrounding her death.

Despite the mixed emotions surrounding Simpson's passing, the Brown sisters remain focused on honoring Nicole's memory and advocating for change. As Denise aptly put it, "The pain doesn't go away... But you do the best you can and you move on. And it's one step forward."
