Minor girl abducted over a year ago reunites with family
A minor hearing and speech-impaired girl, who was abducted from the Jet Line area over a year ago, has been reunited with her family amid heartwarming scenes.
It is being described as a “miracle reunion” because her abductors left her outside a mosque within the remits of Brigade police station late Tuesday night before fleeing the scene. Police took the girl into custody and returned her to her mother after a medical examination at a hospital.
While speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, SP Jamshed Town Alina Rajpar said that three-year-old Sadia bint Sahib was snatched by unidentified armed suspects from outside a dispensary in the Jet Line area on April 6, 2023 who then disappeared without a trace.
A subsequent search, including the dissemination of information through various channels, police couldn’t trace the whereabouts of either the abductors or the girl. It is not immediately known if the abductors had demanded any ransom for the release of the young abductee.
However, pressure mounted on the abductors through community efforts, forcing them to release the girl outside a mosque more than a year after kidnapping her. When alerted through Madadgar 15, a police team reached the site and took the minor girl into custody.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to apprehend the suspected abductors. CCTV footage from the vicinity of the mosque where the girl was found has been obtained to help in identifying the perpetrators.
The girl's mother, who works at the dispensary from where Sadia was abducted, expressed her gratitude to police for the safe return of her daughter.
