Police capture robbers after shootout

Four suspected robbers were arrested after a police encounter in the Tandlianwala Saddar area.

One of the suspects was injured during the shootout.

According to the officials, Ali Shan, a resident of Bhattapura Vihari, had informed the police that four men had snatched cash and a mobile phone from him. After receiving the information, the SHO of the area police station along with a contingent reached the spot where Ali Shan told them that the robbers had fled towards maize crop near Chak No. 428GB after committing the robbery. The SHO called for more personnel and surrounded the fields.

When the bandits saw the police party, they fired indiscriminately. One of the robbers, Munir, a resident of Nankana, was injured by the robbers' own firing.

His associates Waqas, a resident of 429GB, Nawaz, of Lundianwala, and Rahim, the 426GB area, were arrested by the police after a chase.

The injured robber was admitted to the THQ hospital in Tandlianwala after first aid. Police officers, including SP Shamsul Haque Durrani, DSP Masood Nazir and SHO Basharat Hussain reached the spot after receiving information about the encounter. According to the police, the arrested robbers had confessed their involvement in dozens of incidents of robbery.
