In an attempt to mount pressure on the government to release Osama bin Laden’s family from custody, the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) allegedly plans to kidnap high-ranking civil and armed officials from all over the country, it has been learnt.
According to official sources, the interior ministry has advised all government departments and officials of law enforcement agencies to stay vigilant.
“Such an incident can take place in Islamabad and provincial capital cities; therefore, strict security measures are needed,” stated a circular issued by the Crisis Management Cell of the interior ministry.
Bin Laden’s family members have been in custody of the Pakistani government since the May 2 raid, which killed the al Qaeda chief. The government has refused to repatriate the family due to ongoing investigations by the Abbottabad judicial commission.

@Taliban law: Could be that they do not want them defiled, it is customary when a fighter is killed that someone else will take care of his wife and children so that the children do not become orphans; that is actually the reason the Prophet, peace be upon him, received the guidance for the permissability of marrying more than one wife. To protect and take care of the women. In this case however, it could be that Osama was not there at the time of the raid, and the govt. just kidnapped his family. If that is the case, then TTP and AQ must see to their release, even if their re-joining him is not possible for security reasons.
@Taliban law: do u think that they are safe with pakistani police and americans....no.....but yes they can be safe with taliban.....
@Taliban law: May be the operation is being carried out by female wing of Taliban ....
Some friends of TTP are retired and have no value, otherwise they would have offered free service.
Why exactly is the GoP keeping them and on whose order ... what is their aim and future planning. They are enemies of this country and there should be tough laws to deal with any one involved directly or indirectly in anti state activities. They should be given capital punishment for supporting terrorism, support and planning of killing innocent people along with the likes of Sami-Ul-Haq & Qazi who openly support anti state elements and have openly supported those people who have killed thousands of innocent people around the country.
The least GoP can do is to hand them over to their countries if they are so impotent to deal with them. These political parties should be busy making tough anti terror laws instead of killing political workers and innocent people.
could the kidnap of Salman Taseer could be for the samer reason?
What do the Taliban want to do with his wives and family? Sitting alone with a non mahram woman is not permitted why they want to see his wives and family
world to see Wikileaks: Did India support Pakistani Taliban? Last updated on: August 31, 2011 10:20 IST Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)
i do not think the family can be much useful in the inquiry .well in that case they be interview immediately and then be repatriat to their relevant countries we should not take unnecessary risks involved with them keep here in Pakistan
Such a move by TTP to kidnap civil and military officials would be a blessing in disguise who are not taking any decisive action against this outfit since there are many TTP apologists in both these services.
When OBL was not even in the Abbottabad base, how can his family members be there? How could the news of OBL's killing in Abbottabad by Americans be wrong and yet his family members in Pakistani custody? When would we start telling the whole truth and stop hiding our face in sand?
