In an unexpected twist, renowned Pakistani scriptwriter, director, and poet Khalilur Rehman Qamar has hinted at casting Mahira Khan in his upcoming film, Mirza Jatt. This announcement has caught many by surprise, given the previously contentious history between the two celebrities and Qamar's repetitive statements of never wanting to work with her.

Despite their past differences, it appears that both have chosen to move forward. In a recent interview, Qamar announced that Mahira and Humayun Saeed will star together in Mirza Jatt. Addressing their past conflict, Qamar remarked, “Yes, there were differences, but now we just have to work.” When asked about whether he has forgiven Mahira after vowing never to do so, Qamar replied with, "That was my stance. I will stick to it."

The news has sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans are ecstatic at the prospect of seeing Mahira and Humayun share the screen again, others remain skeptical about this potential collaboration. Mahira has still not confirmed Qamar's claims of working with her.

In 2020, a social media feud erupted after The Legend of Maula Jatt actor criticised Qamar’s remarks towards social activist Marvi Sirmad. Since then he has openly shamed the actor for standing up for what was right. Known for his outspoken views, Qamar expressed his disapproval of Mahira’s actions, stating last year on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast that while he didn’t hate her, he despised her actions—a sentiment he believed was enduring.

The animosity between Qamar and Mahira began when Qamar made abusive comments about women on national television. Outraged, Mahira took to Twitter to criticise him for his stance, questioning how the industry could stay silent and not protest against such crude remarks. She also highlighted her disbelief at how Qamar continued to secure projects despite his behaviour, stating, "I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on TV is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame, if not more, for perpetuating this thinking!"

During the same podcast hosted by Butt, Qamar revealed that he might only consider ending the feud with Mahira if she offers a public apology, as the insult was public. Qamar appeared resolute in his stance, showing no inclination to let bygones be bygones and holding firmly onto the animosity.
