ISLAMABAD:

A habitual petitioner, Mian Daud Advocate, has urged the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, to expedite proceedings on the complaints filed against superior court judges at the SJC.

In a letter, Mian Daud noted that CJ Isa had stated on January 21 that there are 100 complaints under consideration against judges in the council.

He emphasized that the chief justice has made courageous decisions in accordance with the Constitution and law, and due to upholding the supremacy of the Constitution and democracy, his name will be inscribed in golden letters.

Furthermore, he pointed out that in the past, chief justices have continued to provide protection to corrupt judges. The public believes that the accountability of judges is only possible during the tenure of Chief Justice Isa.

He stressed that complaints against judges in the SJC should be addressed promptly, and hearings on complaints against judges should be conducted on a daily basis.

Mian Daud Advocate was among those who filed a complaint against former Supreme Court judge Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi. Later, the judge submitted his resignation ahead of the conclusion of the SJC proceedings.

However, the council continued its proceedings on the complaints even after the judge’s retirement and later declared him guilty of misconduct.
