KARACHI:

The Customs Intelligence, Department of Explosives (DOE) and sensitive agencies raided a warehouse in Korangi Sector 50C on Sunday and seized adulterated petrol, diesel and aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent (chemical).

The solvent, seized during raid, is generally used in manufacturing of paints and is sold about Rs.100 cheaper than petrol. After being mixed with petrol and diesel, it was sold at various petrol pumps in the country.

Sources say that the operation conducted in Korangi is a unique one of its own kind, which shows that the adulterants have not left petrol and diesel either.

During raid, 450,561 liters of adulterated petrol and diesel were recovered from 24 oil tanks among which seven were hidden underground.

Owner of warehouse, Muhammad Khalid, has not renewed his license for four years as illegal work was being done in the warehouse. The warehouse was sealed.
