PO repatriated from abroad after 8 years

Arrest made possible with the mutual cooperation of the Punjab Police and Interpol in Islamabad

Punjab Police have arrested a man wanted in an eight-year-old kidnapping and murder case of Dera Ghazi Khan after his extradition from Saudi Arabia.

According to a statement, the arrest of the proclaimed offender (PO) was made possible with the mutual cooperation of the Punjab Police and Interpol in Islamabad.

Proclaimed offender Rafiq Ahmed had been wanted by Jamal Khan police in Dera Ghazi Khan for ten past eight years.

The ma had been wanted for the kidnapping and murder of a class 10 student.

After the incident, the accused had gone into hiding and later fled abroad. The police had issued a red notice of the accused and continued follow-up with Interpol for the arrest.

With the coordination of Interpol Islamabad and Riyadh, the accused was arrested by the Saudi police and extradited to Pakistan.

A DG Khan police team took the accused into custody from the airport.

The total number of proclaimed offenders of Punjab arrested from abroad during the ongoing year has now risen to 38.

IGP Dr Usman Anwar said that legal proceedings in the case should be completed soon, while efforts should be intensified to arrest other fugitives wanted in cases of heinous crimes.
