A man who ran over a traffic police official after violating a traffic signal in Karachi’s DHA area has been arrested, Express News reported.

According to details, the incident occurred on May 20 near the Saudi Embassy. Traffic Constable Sadaqat signalled a vehicle to stop after it ran a red light. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated.

When the constable stepped in front of the vehicle, the driver did not stop and ran over him. The impact caused Constable Sadaqat to be thrown onto the bonnet of the car. Holding onto the bonnet, he managed to stay on the vehicle as the driver attempted to flee.

The traffic police eventually managed to stop the vehicle and apprehended the driver, identified as Ali Hassan, son of Malik Bashir. The suspect was handed over to the Gizri Police Station, where he faces multiple charges under the Pakistan Penal Code.

Karachi DIG Traffic emphasised that no one is above the law and that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who violate traffic regulations.
