Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish are caught up in an online controversy after some interpreted Eilish's comments about vinyl records in an interview as a jab at Swift.
Devoted fans of both artists have flocked to social media to express their views.
The controversy started when Billie Eilish shared her thoughts in a Billboard interview, criticizing other artists' choices to release various vinyl packages as "frustrating" given the worsening global climate situation.
Eilish highlighted that releasing numerous vinyl variants harms the environment and accused some artists of doing it for profit. Some Taylor Swift fans interpreted this as a personal attack on Swift, who is known for producing multiple vinyl versions of her albums.
Swift notably released four vinyl versions of Midnights and eight variants of her 2020 album Folklore. According to the New York Post, fan reactions led Eilish to post a clarification on her Instagram story.

Billie Eilish recently released her album Hit Me Hard And Soft, marking her first album since 2021. However, on the same day, Taylor Swift also introduced three new vinyl editions of her album The Tortured Poets Department.
According to the Daily Mail, Eilish's fans accused Swift of attempting to overshadow Eilish by timing her album release to coincide with Eilish's.
Although Billie Eilish has already clarified her position on her vinyl comments, Taylor Swift has not yet commented on the ongoing controversy
