Adam Wingard not returning to ‘Godzilla x Kong’
Adam Wingard, the director of Legendary's recent successful MonsterVerse films, will not be returning for the next, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The decision to part ways is said to be mutual and due to scheduling conflicts.
Wingard’s ‘Godzilla x Kong: New Empire,’ which has earned over $564 million globally since its release in March, the director did not have a contractual agreement for any future MonsterVerse projects.
The ‘Death Note’ director revealed that he is working on a new original action thriller ‘Onslaught,’ which was picked up in a competitive sale by A24, the shooting will start in fall.
‘Godzilla x Kong’ will be becoming the highest-grossing film in the MonsterVerse series, with an estimated weekend box office surpassing $568 million, taking the title away from ‘Kong: Skull Island,’ 2017.
The film is expected to be the most profitable of the five movies in the series.
