Julia Fox, the actress and model, has taken a bold stand by choosing celibacy, a decision she shared on "Watch What Happens Live" on Monday, May 19. Fox explained that her choice is a personal protest against the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
"Nothing good comes from having sex — including children," Fox, 34, joked, before clarifying, "No, I’m just kidding."
She continued, "With the overturning of Roe v. Wade and our rights being stripped away, this is a way I can take back control. It sucks that it has to be this way, but I just don’t feel comfortable until things change."
Fox, who has a 3-year-old son, Valentino, with ex-husband Peter Artemiev, revealed that her celibacy journey has been ongoing. "It was six months, then a year, and now it’s almost two-and-a-half years," she shared.
When asked by host Andy Cohen if she misses sex, Fox gave an emphatic “no.” She compared it to overcoming other habits, like smoking or drugs. "Eventually, you just forget, and all that energy can go toward other things," she said.
Cohen then got more personal, asking if she masturbates frequently. "Not as much as you would think," Fox responded. "Maybe once or twice a month. Sometimes I’ll start and then get tired and lose interest. I’m just so tired all the time."
Fox first revealed her celibacy on May 11 in a comment on a TikTok video criticizing Bumble's new ad campaign. "2.5 years of celibacy and never been better tbh," she commented.
Fox previously dated Kanye West briefly in early 2022. On "The Drew Barrymore Show" last October, she compared the experience to having a second baby. "He needed a full-time person, and I just couldn’t be that," she said. "I had my son [Valentino], and he wanted to talk on the phone a lot. It was so overwhelming and unsustainable."
Ultimately, Fox concluded, "I cannot put anybody else first. My son has to be first. It felt like I had two babies, and I couldn’t do it."
