Liverpool, fresh off its successful hosting of Eurovision in 2023, is solidifying its reputation as a music-loving city by embracing Taylor Swift mania. In anticipation of the pop star's three sold-out shows in June, the city is being transformed into "Taylor Town" from June 8 to 16.

The city-wide celebration will feature a series of art installations inspired by Swift's 11 albums, located at Liverpool ONE, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, and the Metquarter. These works, curated by Culture Liverpool and Make CIC, will include a moss-covered grand piano, a "red room," and giant hearts, each representing a different era of Swift's music.

In addition to the art installations, a series of ticketed craft workshops called "Liverpool Loves Taylor (Craft Version)" will be held at the Metquarter. Visitors will be able to participate in various creative activities inspired by the singer, such as origami, T-shirt transformation, denim upcycling, collage making, and cupcake decorating.

Academics at the University of Liverpool are also getting in on the action, organising a conference called Tay Day on June 12. The symposium, organised by the university's Institute of Popular Music, will feature academics from across Europe who will "debate and deconstruct" Swift's work, discussing topics such as her place in feminism.

Councillor Harry Doyle, Liverpool City Council's cabinet member for culture, emphasised the city's anticipation of Swift's visit and the positive economic impact it is expected to bring. The Eras tour, which includes stops in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff, and London, is projected to generate £997 million for the UK economy, according to the Barclays Swiftonomics report.

With its unique blend of art, crafts, and academic discourse, Liverpool is set to provide an unforgettable experience for Taylor Swift fans and capitalise on the economic boost her concerts are expected to bring.
