MQM-P stages protest against KE

Muttahida Qaumi Movement -Pakistan staged a protest outside the office of K-Electric (KE) on Tipu Sultan Road against electricity load shedding.

Lawmakers of MQM-P including Aamir Siddiqui, Daniyal Ahmed, Farah Sohail and local people participated in the protest in large numbers. The protesters were holding placards while shouting slogans against electricity load shedding.

Talking to media representatives on this occasion, MQM-P MPAs Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui, Daniyal Ahmed, and Farah Sohail said that today, residents of adjoining areas including Martin, Clayton, Jail Quarters are protesting. KE has crossed all limits to oppress people. They said that where is the state to rein in KE? They said that their demand is to cancel the license of KE and give its contract to another company. They said according to NEPRA rules, load shedding cannot exceed seven and a half hours but load shedding of 15 to 18 hours is being done in different areas and the series of announced and unannounced power outages continues. Moreover, over-billing has already broken the back of the people. They said that they are going to the Supreme Court against KE.

They blamed KE for the illegal sale of power to industries and recovery from the poor people.

People are not paying children's fees, but paying the electricity bill, despite that there is no electricity. MQM-P Sindh Assembly members said people will not tolerate any more cruelty on the people of Karachi. They said that a few people have come out from District East and the whole of Karachi will come out in the coming days.
