CJP orders precious gift to be deposited in Toshakhana

‘Baab-e-Kaaba’ pen will be displayed in the Supreme Court Museum

ISLAMABAD:

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa deposited a valuable gift to Toshakhana on Monday.

The gift, an expensive pen named Bab-e-Kaaba, was received from Muslim World League Secretary Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa during their meeting in April.

The Muslim World League, an international non-governmental organisation headquartered in Makkah, includes members from all Islamic countries and sects.

After receiving approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, CJP Isa placed the gift in the Supreme Court of Pakistan museum. The CJP's secretary communicated this decision to the Cabinet Division's secretary in a letter.

Established in 1974, Toshakhana, a Persian term meaning "treasure house," is a department under the Cabinet Division that stores precious gifts given to rulers, parliamentarians, bureaucrats, and officials by foreign dignitaries.

Its collection includes valuables such as bulletproof cars, gold-plated souvenirs, expensive paintings, watches, ornaments, rugs, and swords.
