Selena Gomez has lost one million followers after the ‘Blockout 2024’ movement, for staying silent on Israel’s war on Gaza

The social media movement targets celebrities with large followings who haven't spoken out about the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

At present, over 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, since the attack on October 7, which killed over 1,100 people.

Gomez joins a growing list that includes Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Kim Kardashian, all facing criticism for prioritizing their public image over using their platform for activism.

The movement gained momentum after the Met Gala, where many of these celebrities were seen attending the event instead of speaking up about the human rights situation.

Social media users slammed the hypocrisy of celebrities who flaunt wealth and glamor while remaining silent on pressing global issues.

Selena Gomez's follower drop highlights the growing power of social media to hold celebrities accountable for their actions and inaction.
