Punjab mulls secured border with K-P
The Punjab government has approved the construction of new police check posts at two key entry points into Punjab from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) at a total cost of Rs519.252 million.
Both ordinary check posts in the Attock district will be fully upgraded and tightened with more security measures. The first check post will be built at Attock Khurd in Hazro Tehsil at an estimated cost of Rs259.527m, while the second checkpost will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs259.725m near Khushal Garh at Jand Tehsil.
Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Aamir Khattak has invited tenders for the construction of the check posts with a deadline of June 5. The contract is expected to be awarded by June 15. The check posts will be equipped with high-speed searchlights, closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, barriers, and toll plaza-style barriers.
Security officials will strictly check the motorists between K-P and Punjab. The personnel of the Punjab Special Branch and the Anti-Narcotics Force will also be deployed in addition to the regular policemen at these check posts.
