Larger bench to hear plea against Imran on 21st

ISLAMABAD:

After a year, the Islamabad High Court on Friday again scheduled for hearing a petition against PTI founding chairman Imran Khan for concealing his alleged daughter Tyrian White on May 21.

The IHC has formed a new larger bench headed by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri to hear the case.
Justices Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Saman Rafat Imtiaz are the other judges on the bench.
Earlier in May last year, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq dissolved a three-judge bench hearing the case.
Apart from the IHC chief justice, the other two members of the bench were Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Arbab Muhammad Tahir.

Without consulting with the IHC CJ, Justices Kayani and Tahir had ruled against the petition’s maintainability and the verdict was uploaded to the court’s official website.
However, an inquiry into the matter was ordered as the verdict was not issued with the signature of the IHC chief justice.

The IHC CJ’s office had the verdict removed from the website and issued a statement that a new bench would be formed to hear the matter.
The petitioner, Muhammad Sajid, in his plea maintained that while the former premier had denied allegations that he had a daughter, he refrained from commenting on the matter now allegedly "because he knows that there is evidence against him”.

The plea sought the PTI chief's disqualification under Article 62(i)(f) as the concealment of his “daughter” rendered him unfit for office.
