The movie stars Blake Lively as Lily, a woman who relocates to Boston to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams.
There, she encounters Ryle, a neurosurgeon nearing the end of his residency, played by Justin Baldoni. The trailer suggests a quick connection between the two, despite their differing desires.
The book's synopsis hints at Lily's exploration of her new relationship with Ryle while grappling with the return of her former love, Atlas Corrigan.

The film's release was initially scheduled for February 9th, but a production shutdown in June 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America strike resulted in a delay.
Filming restarted in January 2024, with Sony Pictures setting a new release date of August 9th, 2024.
"Lily captivated a vast audience, as evidenced by the novel's success," Lively expressed to People magazine. "It's a privilege to embody a character who has had such a significant impact. I connected with Lily, and I hope that connection resonates with both those who already cherish her and those meeting her for the first time through this film."
Justin Baldoni directs the film and serves as an executive producer through his company Wayfarer Studios.
