John Krasinski and Steve Carell reunite for upcoming movie 'IF'

'The Office' co-stars turn tearful as John Krasinski directs Steve Carell in the new film 'IF'.

John Krasinski and Steve Carell, beloved for their dynamic on NBC's 'The Office', have reunited for Krasinski's latest movie 'IF', a blend of animation and live-action. 

Krasinski, who not only wrote and directed the film but also stars in it, shared a touching moment from their reunion with People. 

"When he came in, I thought I would have the best time ever, and I did," Krasinski recounted. "But the first thing he did was make me cry, which sounds sad but it was amazing."

The film, featuring Carell as the voice of Blue, explores the story of a little girl who can see people's imaginary friends. 

This role marks a shift from Carell's previous comedic work alongside Krasinski. "He said, 'I knew you'd go on to be a writer-director,'" Krasinski recalled. 

Moved by Carell's supportive words, Krasinski admitted, "I didn't even know that. He just said, 'I'm so proud of you and keep going, and I've watched everything and [I'm] cheering you on from the sidelines.' So I wept at the beginning of our VO session, and then luckily he jumped into being Blue and cheered me up. It was great."

The star-studded cast also includes Ryan Reynolds, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and voices from Matt Damon, Bradley Cooper, George Clooney, and Emily Blunt, Krasinski's wife. 

While Krasinski and Carell have both moved beyond their roles in 'The Office', the sitcom's legacy continues to thrive, with plans to introduce new episodes. 

However, Carell has confirmed he will not return, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "I will be watching but I will not be showing up."

Krasinski's venture into writing and directing has seen success, including his work on 'A Quiet Place' and its sequel. 

Fans of both actors are eagerly anticipating this new project, which promises to deliver both laughs and emotional depth.
