What would your reaction be if you were scrolling through Tinder, Hinge, Bumble or any other dating app and matched with a world-famous celebrity? Take a chance and message them, or report them as an impersonator and move on to the next? Zayn Malik revealed that most of his matches on Tinder ended up doing the latter, which led to the star being kicked off the app more than once. In a recent interview with Nylon Magazine, the singer and former One Direction member shared his failures while navigating the complex world of online dating.
“It’s not been too successful for me, I’ll be honest,” he revealed. “Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like: What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for? I’ve been kicked off once or twice,” he told the magazine.
Post removal from the app, the Pillowtalk singer hasn’t restored his account and doesn’t plan on using dating apps to meet new people anymore. Instead, he assured fans that he is finding peace in being single. “I’m content and happy with being single for the first time in my life,” he said much to the disappointment of some fans who believe they would one day casually bump into the star, and in a twist of fate, end up dating him.
He continued to say, “It’s probably wise to take your time before you fully invest in another human being as a lifelong partner.”
In a recent episode of The Zach Sang Show, Zayn, in a shocking revelation, said that he doesn’t know if he’s ever “truly been in love”. This sparked outrage amongst netizens as the singer has publicly been in two long term relationships. Model Gigi Hadid, who he shares his three-year-old daughter with, and fellow singer Perrie Edwards, to whom he was engaged to for two years during his time in One Direction.
The Tu Hai Kahan singer also highlighted the fact that the only time he leaves his house in Pennsylvania is when he’s out with his daughter, Khai. “I only have my daughter 50 per cent of the time. I would have her 90 per cent if I could. We go see Disney on Ice or we go see the Nickelodeon theme park. Or we go to the beach. That’s how I get out,” Zayn revealed. While he’s not looking for love at the moment, at least now fans know where to find him when he is ready to settle down.
