Amazon renews 'The Boys' for Season 5 ahead of schedule

The Boys will continue battling superheroes for another season.

The satirical superhero series ‘The Boys’ has been renewed several weeks prior to the fourth season premiere on Prime Video.

The television adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book has been renewed for a fifth season on Prime Video, Amazon's primary streaming platform. 

The renewal announcement coincides with Amazon's inaugural upfronts and arrives several weeks ahead of The Boys' fourth season premiere on June 13.

“We are proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise, and we are thrilled that [showrunner] Eric Kripke and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell for all the loyal fans,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios. 

Sanders continued, “The Boys is an unabashed and bold series that continues captivating our customers all over the world by piercing the cultural fabric season after season.”

The Boys consistently ranks among the top 10 streaming shows according to Nielsen when new episodes are released, indicating its popularity on Prime Video. 

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, Neal H. Moritz's Original Film, and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Point Grey Pictures.

Kripke executive produces The Boys with Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter.

Season four of the series will feature returning actors such as Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, and Cameron Crovetti. 

Additionally, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the cast.
