Despite court's orders, Parvez Elahi transferred from Rawalpindi to Lahore

ISLAMBAD:

A contempt of court petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court against the interior secretary and superintendent of Adiala Jail for transferring PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi to Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore.

Approaching the Islamabad High Court for the contempt of court proceedings, Qaisra Elahi, wife of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, stated that the Islamabad High Court had given two days to the interior secretary to decide on the plea of keeping Parvez Elahi under house arrest.

Besides, the court also ordered the superintendent Adiala Jail to ensure regular medical check-ups of Pervez Elahi. In contradiction of the court’s order, Pervez Elahi was transferred from Rawalpindi to Lahore.

The petitioner requested the court to initiate the contempt of court proceedings against Secretary Interior Khurram Agha and Superintendent Adiala Jail Asad Waraich.
