Police launch hunt for 10 suspects

At least 10 people were accused of assaulting and snatching money from a  transgender person during a  wedding function.

The complainant, Sara Zubaidah, filed a report with the police, stating that they were dancing at a wedding function two nights ago  when the accused Muhammad Safdar and others, under the influence of liquor,  began shouting at them and attempted to assault them. When the victim resisted, the accused reportedly beat them with sticks and punches. They also assaulted another transgender, Sara Bijli, and took Rs55,000 from them, the complainant alleged.

The police registered a case and started searching for the accused.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against two accused who assaulted an employee of the Allied Hospital Burn Unit and threatened to throw acid on her face.

According to the police, the victim stated that three months ago, she was performing her duty  as a dresser in the hospital when accused Rizwan came to the unit with an attendant. She stated that the accused managed to obtain her contact number and began harassing and blackmailing her. “When I strictly forbade it, the accused came down to threatening me,” she added.

The victim claimed, that on May 1, when she was on duty, the accused came to the burn unit with his accomplice and physically assaulted her while the other staff tried to stop him. She stated that the accused threatened to throw acid on her face and kill her in front of the employees. The police registered a case against the accused under sections 354, 509 and 34.
