iCube-Qamar enters moon's orbit

Pakistan's iCube-Qamar which was sent into space on Wednesday has successfully entered moon's orbit. It is scheduled to transmit its first picture on May 16.

iCube-Qamar achieved lunar orbit at 1:14pm Pakistan time on Wednesday. Following its deployment on moon, the satellite is operating according to the designated parameters.

All subsystem health data of iCube-Qamar are reported to be excellent, and the imaging payload is fully operational, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). Over the next two days, it will undergo thorough examination within the lunar orbit.

The space shuttle transporting Pakistan's iCube-Qamar to the moon has continued along its planned trajectory. In-orbit testing of iCube controllers, subsystems, and protocols commenced upon entering lunar orbit according to Suparco spokesperson.

The iCube will essentially remain in experimental phase for five to six days following its arrival in the orbit. Meanwhile, signals received from iCube-Qamar will undergo testing. Once all tests are successfully completed and instruments are operational, first image of the moon is expected to be received by May 16th.
