The will-it-or-won’t-it-happen question surrounding the Parizaad sequel has been at a fever pitch, and fans now have something concrete to celebrate: it has been confirmed that season two of the show will be on air starting next year.
Based on the novel of the same name, Parizaad starred renowned actor Ahmed Ali Akbar as the titular character, telling the tale of a college student striving to reach his ambitions. The drama first hit screens in July 2021, wrapping up with the final episode in cinemas on January 28 2022 before airing on television four days later on February 1 2022. The show was hailed by critics and fans alike for deviating from the traditional sobbing women featured heavily in Pakistani dramas.
“It’s going to be a beautiful story,” promised the CEO of Hum Network, Duraid Qureshi, when confirming that the second instalment of the show would be out next year. Citing the reasons viewers were drawn to Parizaad, Qureshi added, “Our philosophy is that the content should be good, and it should be complete. If you study the show, you will see that not one single episode or performance dragged, which is why it was so successful.”
Qureshi’s announcement comes on the heels of a statement Akbar made in an interview last week when he hinted that the show would be back. Having since gone on to star in the feature film Gunjal, Akbar remarked of his character in the drama, “Parizaad was so deeply interwoven into who I am, I wanted to shed some of [it] before I could talk to people. It was a year-long shoot, you become part of the character, the character becomes part of you.” With Qureshi’s promise of a beautiful story that doesn’t drag, fans can expect great things from the drama when it hits screens next year.
