Princess Kate Middleton is expected to prolong her absence from public engagements as she continues her cancer treatment, according to the Times of London.

They have indicated the 42-year-old Princess of Wales may later choose to attend events "when she feels able to."

Kate revealed her diagnosis in March after cancerous tissue was discovered during abdominal surgery in January. She is currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

"This, of course, came as a huge shock," Kate said in a March video statement. "[Prince] William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."

The princess and Prince William, 41, share three children: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (9), and Prince Louis (6).

They chose to only publicly disclose the diagnosis after informing their children. Kate has pledged to return to her royal duties once medically cleared.

Prince William has offered a brief update on the family, stating, "All doing well, thank you. Yes, we're doing well." He continues to fulfil his own public engagements while supporting Kate's recovery. William has also been occasionally filling in for his father, King Charles III, who is also receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
