LAHORE:

The Counter-Terrorism Department of Rawalpindi killed on Sunday two key terrorists of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in an Intelligence-based operation (IBO).

Action against the militants was taken upon a tip-off. The terrorists opened fire on CTD personnel and were shot dead when security forces retaliated. The slain militants were identified as Naseebullah and Ehsanullah, who were involved in the attack on Dolphin Force in Rawalpindi earlier.

An Improvised explosive device (IED), hand grenade, and a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Earlier, the CTD arrested seven suspected terrorists linked with banned outfits during operations in different areas of Punjab.

A total of 164 IBO’s were conducted in different districts, in which 165 suspects were interrogated and seven suspected terrorists arrested along with weapons, explosives and other prohibited material.

The spokesman said over 3kg of explosives, a hand grenade, two IEDs, six detonators, safety fuse wire, a pistol with 16 bullets, magazines of a banned organization, stickers, 10 receipt books, a mobile phone and Rs38,050 in cash had been seized from the suspects.
