JI to launch pro-farmers movement: Ameer

Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Saturday said that his party would launch a pro-farmers movement for their rights and land reforms as farmers, workers, students and men in the street have been being exploited in the country for the last 76 years. “Four per cent of the elite own 70 per cent of the country's agricultural land. This elite comprising landlords decides the fate of the remaining 96 per cent of peasants,” he said while addressing the gathering of workers during a public reception in the federal capital.

The JI chief called for land reforms in the country, saying the lands of these landlords should be distributed among the common farmers. The prevailing wheat crisis was because ruling elites and capitalists had taken over the country, he added.

Naeemur Rehman said the JI didn’t accept this ‘Form 47’ government [PDM 2.0] as it is a fake regime, adding the absence of rule of law and justice was behind the declining state of affairs.

He alleged that at the behest of foreign masters, Bangladesh was separated from Pakistan by sowing seeds of hatred, blaming General Yahya, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Sheikh Mujeebur Rehman for the separation.
